Air Fryer Ribeye Steak
Cooking ribeye steak in the air fryer is quick, convenient, and produces a beautifully caramelized crust while keeping the inside tender and juicy. With just a few simple seasonings, you can enjoy a restaurant-quality steak at home.
Ingredients
-
1 ribeye steak (about 1–1.5 inches thick, 250–350 g / 8–12 oz)
-
1–2 teaspoons olive oil
-
Salt, to taste
-
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
-
Optional: garlic powder, smoked paprika, or fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary)
Instructions
1. Prepare the steak
Pat the ribeye dry with paper towels. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil. Generously season with salt and black pepper, and sprinkle optional seasonings if desired. Let the steak sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes for more even cooking.
2. Preheat the air fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for 3–5 minutes.
3. Cook the steak
Place the ribeye in the air fryer basket, making sure it is not touching the sides for proper air circulation. Cook for:
-
Rare: 6–8 minutes (flip halfway)
-
Medium-rare: 8–10 minutes (flip halfway)
-
Medium: 10–12 minutes (flip halfway)
-
Well-done: 12–14 minutes (flip halfway)
Cooking times may vary depending on air fryer models and steak thickness.
4. Rest the steak
Remove the steak from the air fryer and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Resting allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the steak tender and flavorful.
5. Serve
Slice against the grain and serve hot. Pair with garlic butter, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
Tips for Best Results
-
Always pat the steak dry—moisture prevents proper searing.
-
Use a meat thermometer for accuracy: 50°C (122°F) for rare, 55°C (131°F) for medium-rare, 60°C (140°F) for medium, and 70°C (158°F) for well-done.
-
Let the air fryer preheat fully for the best crust.
-
For added flavor, top with a pat of herb or garlic butter just before serving.
Storage
Cooked steak can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the air fryer or oven to maintain texture.
