1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
-
12 ounces smoked sausage (beef, chicken, or turkey), sliced into rounds
-
3 cups broccoli florets
-
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
⅓ cup honey
-
¼ cup soy sauce
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
-
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional but recommended)
-
½ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional, for heat)
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thicker sauce)
-
Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions
Start by preparing all your ingredients so everything is ready to go. Shrimp cooks quickly, and once you begin, the process moves fast.
Heat a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced sausage and cook for about 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly browned and slightly crispy on the edges. Remove the sausage from the pan and set it aside.
In the same pan, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Toss in the broccoli florets and season lightly with salt and pepper. Cook for about 4–5 minutes, stirring often, until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp. If needed, add a splash of water and cover the pan for a minute to help the broccoli steam. Remove the broccoli and set it aside with the sausage.
Lower the heat to medium and add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.
Now pour in the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for 2–3 minutes. If you like a thicker, stickier sauce, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another minute until the sauce slightly thickens.
Add the shrimp directly into the sauce. Cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Shrimp cooks quickly, so avoid overcooking to keep it tender and juicy.
Once the shrimp is cooked, return the sausage and broccoli to the pan. Gently toss everything together so it’s well coated in the honey garlic sauce. Sprinkle in red chili flakes if you want a little heat. Let everything cook together for another 1–2 minutes so the flavors blend nicely.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. You can add a bit more soy sauce for saltiness or a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness.

This dish is incredibly versatile. Serve it over steamed white rice, brown rice, or jasmine rice to soak up all that delicious sauce. It’s also great over noodles or quinoa. For a low-carb option, enjoy it on its own or with cauliflower rice.
