Ingredients
-
1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
-
8 oz (225 g) smoked sausage, sliced into ½-inch pieces
-
3 cups broccoli florets
-
3 tablespoons olive oil or butter, divided
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
¼ cup honey
-
3 tablespoons soy sauce
-
1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
-
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
-
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
-
Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
-
Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). If you prefer a slightly thicker sauce, dissolve 1 teaspoon of cornstarch in 1 tablespoon of water and add it to the mixture. Set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Sausage
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for 4–5 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and slightly crispy. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Broccoli
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil or butter. Add the broccoli florets and sauté for 4–5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. If desired, add a splash of water and cover the pan briefly to steam the broccoli, making it tender but still crisp. Remove broccoli and set aside with the sausage.
Step 4: Cook the Shrimp
Add the remaining tablespoon of oil or butter to the skillet. Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper, then add them to the pan in a single layer. Cook for 2–3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Shrimp cook quickly, so avoid overcooking to keep them tender.
Step 5: Combine Ingredients with Sauce
Return the cooked sausage and broccoli to the pan with the shrimp. Pour the honey garlic sauce over everything and toss to coat evenly. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats all ingredients.
Step 6: Serve
Transfer the Honey Garlic Shrimp, Sausage & Broccoli to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish if desired. Serve immediately over cooked rice, noodles, or enjoy as-is for a low-carb meal.
